Mission of the department:
The mission of the department is to train specialists in designing and improving the architectural environment of cities, architectural complexes, park ensembles, interiors of residential and public buildings and urban design objects.
The Department of Architectural Space Design (ASD) is one of the graduate departments of the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture, Design and Arts. The department accomplishes training of bachelors in the design of architectural environment. This training program includes the design of interiors, architecture of buildings, complex improvement of urban and park territories.
Course design subject at the Department of ASD is made in view of real assignments, which allows to master skills in following disciplines:
· Interior design, decoration of residential and public rooms, design of furniture and equipment.
· To carry out projects of landscape design and improvement of park areas, city streets and squares.
· To do architectural design of residential and public buildings.
· To do graphic design, visual communication and lighting design.
After finishing masters course and post-graduate studies, graduates of the department can work as training architects at the ASD department.
The mission of the department is also that after the completion of a course, the graduates will be proficient in both architecture and design, enabling them to successfully apply this knowledge to the design of residential and public buildings, interior design, landscape design and redevelopment.
Background:
The Department of Architectural Space Design (ASD) was created by order of the rector in 1991. Head of the department from 1991 to 1996. was professor, Ph.D. in Architecture Arbatsky V.P. Since 1997 the Head of the Department of ASD has been Gamaley A.A.

In addition to the academic work the department works on the organization of international and city contests and festivals.
Research areas of the department:
The department concluded agreements on creative cooperation with the city administration of Novosibirsk, the department trains undergraduates and postgraduates.
The graduates of the department successfully work in design and construction companies, management bodies of architecture and design, manage design studios not only in Novosibirsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, but also in many European countries.
Significant projects:
"Complex improvement of the area of the central walkway of Krasny Prospect, adjacent to the monument of Marshal A.I. Pokryshkin"; Monument-symbol to the Teacher; Monument to victims of political repressions; The metro station "Beryozovaya Roshtsha" (entrance pavilions and passages); NSU park; Narymsky Square; public and multi-storey residential buildings, including the cultural and business complex "Clarus" in the Zaeltsovsky district of Novosibirsk.
