Mission of the Department:
- development of students' volumetric and spatial imagination as the basis of the professional architectural and design thinking;
- perfect mastering of the students' visual skills and means used in project practice;
- formation of a system of aesthetic representations and artistic taste among students.
Background:
The department of drawing, painting and sculpture has existed in NSUADA since the moment of organization of this educational institution, but it traces its origin to the study room of drawing, painting and sculpture (1938), later Drawing Department (1953) as part of the Architectural Faculty of NEBI, where members of the department worked and studied. The first head of the department was Belyaev I.A. Later the department was headed by such professionals as: Professor, Doctor of Architecture Minert L.K., Professor, Honorary Figure of Russian Higher Education Borzot V.P., Professor, Honorary Figure of Russian Higher Education Tokarev V.P., All that set a high level of educational and methodical work of the department.

Research areas of the department: are connected with art research in the field of fine arts, including the newest modern technologies.
The department organizes summer training internship in the open air and in the Novosibirsk Museum of Local History, as well as a summer visiting internship in such cities rich in architectural monuments as St. Petersburg, Suzdal, Novgorod.
