Mission of the Department:
The mission of the department is to train graduates of the department as sufficiently qualified specialists in the field of urban planning in the conditions of the developing labor market and professional services.
Provide a high level of professional training in urban planning for graduates of the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture, Design and Arts in the areas of architecture, design of the architectural environment.
Background:
Town-planning specialization was opened in NEBI in 1966. Department "Planning and development of populated areas" appeared in 1982 under the guidance of PhD in Architecture, B.I. Ogles.
With the formation of NAI in 1988, the Department of Urban Development was established, which until 1991 was headed by PhD in architecture, professor V.P. Arbatsky, from 1991 to 2000 PhD in architecture, professor V.P. Blinkov, from 2000 to the present - PhD in architecture, associate professor Erokhin.
The Department of Urban Development in 2005 was reorganized into the Department of Urban Development and Landscape Architecture.

-Organization of architectural competitions:
In 2017 two teams of masters from 110 and 140 groups have participated in the Creative Workshop "Aerosity as a Transport Hub: Defense of Project Concept Solutions" in the framework of the IV All-Russian Conference "Development of Urban Agglomerations in Russia." As a result they have got Diploma of the 3rd degree.
Participation in an educational seminar for specialists of the NSO "Formation of a comfortable urban environment"
The organization of students meeting with the representatives of ICPO "Siberian Environmental Center" - "The Isdrevaya River Basin".
Involvement of students to participate in the "School of the Chief Architect" (Ekaterinburg). Participation in the all-Russia scientific-practical conference "Regional development: economy and society" (Kemerovo).
Participation of students in the 15th International conference of students, graduate students and young scientists "Perspectives of the development of fundamental sciences".

-The problems of the successive formation of large urban centers of Novosibirsk (the evolution of the formation of the Lenin Square ensemble (ideas and implementation), the modern stages of the formation of a complex of buildings in the area of the Opera and Ballet Theater (succession problems).
-General provisions of urban-planning placement of high-rise building elements in the structure of the developing center of Novosibirsk (a retrospective analysis of the formation of the silhouette of the historical zone of the center of Novosibirsk).
-The main directions of planning reconstruction of areas of mass typical residential building in Novosibirsk (adaptation problems typical residential development in the new socio-economic conditions, the direction of urban planning reconstruction and humanisation of the living environment).
-Prospects for the development of a settlement system on the territory of Western Siberia, the formation of settlements of the Ob-Irtysh basin (oil and gas bearing areas of Siberia, Kuzbass, Altai).
-Features of designing of landscape objects in the conditions of Siberia (design, historical, scientific ecological and economic aspects, typology of landscape objects).
-Preservation and town-planning reconstruction of the historical and architectural heritage of the cities of Siberia.
-Laws of development of architectural and planning structure of large urban systems in Western Siberia (the genesis of the city plan, cyclic processes).
-Evolution of the transport frame of the settlement system and the transport infrastructure of the major cities of Siberia (external and municipal transport, transport and transfer hubs, new modes of transport).
-Prospective directions of town-planning (integration of functions, vertical zoning, underground urban planning, energy saving, town-planning futurology).
-Modern urban planning principles for the preservation of architectural heritage (aesthetic foundations of urban development, continuity in the development of the urban plan, the silhouette of the city)
-Transition to new principles of urban planning system management, information support of town-planning activity, modeling of the evolution of town planning systems:
